Information we collect and why

Contact enquiries. When you contact us, we collect your name, email address, telephone number, message, and related correspondence. We use this information to answer your request and manage our relationship with you. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries and, where your request concerns a potential contract, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

Newsletter and research updates. When you subscribe or request an update, we collect your email address to send the requested communications. Our legal basis is your consent. You may withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe method in an email or contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Website operation and security. Our hosting provider may process technical information such as IP address, browser type, request time, requested page, and security events to deliver and protect the site. We process this information where necessary for our legitimate interests in providing a secure, reliable website.

Recipients and international transfers

We use service providers to host the website and deliver forms and email, including Cloudflare and Resend. They process personal data on our behalf or under their own applicable terms. If you allow optional third-party media, the media provider identified below may receive information directly from your browser. We may also disclose information where required by law or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. We do not sell personal data.

Some providers may process data outside the country where you live, including outside the European Economic Area or United Kingdom. How long we keep information

We keep contact enquiries while we respond and for as long afterward as reasonably needed for business records, dispute handling, and legal obligations. We keep newsletter and update subscription details until you unsubscribe or we stop the relevant service, subject to a limited suppression record so we can respect an opt-out. Hosting and security records are retained according to operational and security needs and the provider's configured retention periods. We periodically review information and delete or anonymise it when it is no longer needed.

If you use the light/dark appearance toggle, we store a necessary preference named 13mari-theme in local storage. It contains only your selected theme and remains until you clear site data. If you do not select a theme, the site follows your device preference without storing it.

Optional media may be supplied by Embedly, YouTube (including privacy-enhanced mode), or Vimeo. Their cookies, purposes, and duration are controlled by those providers and can change. No such media is loaded by this site unless you accept optional content.

You can review or change your decision at any time using the “Cookie settings” button displayed on the site. Withdrawing permission stops future optional media loads after the page reloads. Cookies already placed by a third party may also need to be removed using your browser settings or the provider's controls.
